Hotel Buenos Aires Broadway. Colon Theatre

Colon Theatre

With privileged acoustics, the renowned Colon Theatre is one of the largest and most beautiful opera theatres in the world. Its building started in 1889. It was designed by Francesco Tamburini; but after his sudden death, he was succeeded by Victor Meano, who developed the project until he died in 1904. The works were completed by the Belgian architect Jules Dormal. The grand opening took place on May 25 1908, with the performance of Aida by Giuseppe Verdi. It is located in front of the Plaza Lavalle (San Nicolas), in the same place that used to be the Del Parque Station of the Buenos Aires Western Railway, head of the first railway line in Argentina.
